This Ancient Club was evolved and imperceptibly founded during the months of April and May in the year 1934, at the University of Cambridge, by certain grave students while at their lessons in Natural History: in the rare intervals between their conning of Strange Creepy Creatures.
The Cambridge Group has been meeting once a year ever since 1934 for Dinner and a reading of the Agony. It had, at any one time, exactly ten members, each corresponding to a member of Carroll's Snark-hunting crew, but this rule has been adjusted over time, in accordance with rule 8 - a perfect and absolute blank, allowing any modification to any rule, given the Bellman's approval.
